Helen Bradley thanks God for making her less analytical, more people-oriented

My story is not a dramatic one. I wasn't down in the depths, and God didn't come to me in a single, explosive event. I never openly rebelled against God; I just hit a point in life where he wasn't especially close. It was as if I didn't want to be bothered. I always related to life primarily through my head rather than my heart, so God seemed more like a concept than a person to me. When I would hear people talking about God as a real person, I couldn't relate to that at all. My God didn't have much to do with my everyday, personal life. If he was there to me, it was a conceptual thing.…

Greg’s two year climb from rock bottom aided by God’s grace

In this next story by Greg Weddle, he describes the way God supported him in his climb out of the pit of Satanism, along with past greed, egotism, lust, lost job, lost marriage, lost Jaguar, lost money. He was $15,000 in debt, and living again with his parents. To read the earlier story which describes his amazing one-night conversion, click here: Greg converts from following Satan to God.

The following story begins with Greg at rock bottom. But he is buoyed by having encountered God in a very convincing way, and by having supportive parents and bosses.

I had lost my great-paying…

Man of the House - changed by Jesus to someone who can listen

"I didn't want anything to do with prayer meetings. My reluctance, I think, stemmed in large part from an unwillingness to listen to someone else, especially when that 'someone else' was my wife and my children."

I came from a family with a very domineering father. He knew how to play wih us when we were children, but he never instilled in us a belief that we really amounted to much. I remember that the neighboring farmer was the first man to ever compliment me, to tell me that I did a good job at something.

As a result, I was determined to prove myself, to make good on my own.…

Jesus worked better than Methadone to break David's heroin addiction.

"The [drug rehab] clinic even called to ask why [my brother] didn't come in for his next methadone appointment, and he told them that Jesus saved him. They didn't believe him, but it was true. That was seven years ago, and he's never had to go back to drugs."

When Jim and I were first married I prayed often, and God would answer me. Those were happy days. For the first time in my life, I began to find God through the words of the Bible. I really began to know him and would sing songs and pray to him as a natural part of my life.

But somewhere during those first years, between…

Frank and Ernestine Petri - they grew closer to Jesus and each other after 45 years of marriage

This husband and wife who have been married 45 years in Royal Oak, Michigan, found renewed love and energy for their marriage after refreshing their faith in Jesus in a prayer group at their church.

Frank Petri's story

Seven years ago our thirty-eight-year marriage was under a great deal of stress. My health wasn't good, and I was so nervous about everything that I would stay awake half the night worrying. My spiritual life was strained. It wasn't joyful or peaceful and neither was I.

Today, my entire life has been changed. I've never been happier than I am now. My new life began…

Eight years of hurt, anger and depression cured in one Easter weekend

"l looked back at our married life, and all the hurt and anger and hatred I felt, all the loneliness and rejection of the past eight years came out. lt just overwhelmed me. I couldn't handle it."

After Sam and I were married for a few years, I began to suffer depressions. These weren't simply bad moods; they were like being in a pit. I would be so depressed that sometimes I couldn't talk for a day-and-a-half. All I could see was darkness. I could have been in the Garden of Eden during that time, and I would only have seen the dirt.

I suffered these depressions periodically for…

Stood there being spit upon

In the book 'Run Baby Run', murderous gang leader Nicky Cruz tells of how he swore at, spit on, and threatened 'hood preacher' David Wilkinson when Wilkinson first told Nicky about God. Later he recalls that David was one of the only people who broke through Nicky's hard shell and it was because David stood there and took it and did not run out of fear and did not get angry.

Nicky later came to God in a strong way, and brought other gang members to God.

Meet Me at the Fountain

My husband became born again after his mother's death, and I wasn't having it. One day I awoke to him standing over the bed holding the Bible, shaking it and telling me I had better get right with God. He would listen to pastors on the radio in the car and I would cover my ears, wanting to scream. One evening, we were at a restaurant when he started talking about God. I said to him, "Do not ever say that three letter word to me again."

The more he pushed the more I ran. I would escape to bars, drinking and talking to strangers. I was running as fast as I could from my judgmental, over…
