Miracles

Healing of Marilyn's Cancer

"I saw a bright light radiating from the host that I could not look at. Then I felt a warmth permeating my whole body and knew that I was cured."

Religion has been a very important part of my life. I met my husband at a Franciscan youth group and were later married with the blessing of the Friars. After my husband died 47 years later, I received the news that I had colon cancer. My hope was fading and thought I would be joining my husband especially after two serious operations, performed by Surya Nalamati, M.D. at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.

By chance, two friends and I went…

Modern Day "Multiplication of the Loaves" event

My Faith Sharing Group gifted me with a beautiful and meaningful blessing of my new home.

At that blessing, among other special things, I was given a small bottle of holy water. This holy water was very special and meaningful to me, as it was obtained from my beloved Saint Columban Parish Church on the day of its closing [that was in May, 2013 -- Editor].

On the night of the blessing of my home, I put the bottle of holy water in my night stand and every night from that time on I would make the sign of the cross with the holy water as I started my evening prayers before going to…

This skydiver almost died, but instead met God and is changed forever

In this video, an interview with extreme skydiving enthusiast Mickey Robinson, he tells of having no interest or relationship with God prior to a near-death experience, and after nearly dying, "knowing" that God is real. He explains why.  It's amazing that with his face scarred from the burns, and his right hand maimed, he did not focus at all on his injuries, but on how God gave him a completely new view of life here and in the hereafter.  That's all that was important to him after surviving.

After 26 years, his belief in Medjugorje is still as strong

Just a quick note to say that I wrote an email to Wayne Weible, the man who wrote the book Medjugorje, The Message. I wanted to tell him I would like to tell a few more people about the amazing spiritual events happening there in the former Yugoslavia. He wrote back ...

Thank you so much. I feel the same today as when it started
My best wishes and God bless.
Wayne

This does not surprise me, given that Wayne, a casual Lutheran in the newspaper business who after hearing about the apparitions of the Virgin Mary in 1985 and having several personal encounters with the supernatural, decided…

The Prayers of Father Solanus Casey Helped to Cure My Father and Father-In-Law

Father Solanus Casey was a friar of the Capuchin Franciscan order.  A gentle man full of compassion, he found favor in the eyes of many, many people whom he both loved and cherished in his own spirit led way.  Although I never knew Father Solanus Casey personally, I feel like he has touched my life in two very special ways. My father and my father-in-law (who sadly is no longer with us) experienced the special blessings of our loving God after the prayers of Father Solanus on two very remote occasions (my father and my father-in-law had never met and did not know each other).

Allow me…

What's the point of all those Padre Pio miracles?

This posting is about Padre Pio, the 20th century Italian monk who by all accounts had a very close-knit and active relationship with Jesus. His life was marked by willing personal sacrifice and hundreds of miracles. Some of the things that happened are so unusual that his biography reads like fiction. But according to hundreds of witnesses and recorded statements from people whose lives were converted by interaction with Padre Pio, these things really happened (I’ll mention some later in this article).

If you believe what was reported about Padre Pio, there are a couple of ways to…

Rose cremated with body of Father Jack Trese emerges from furnace virtually unscathed

Father Jack TreseFather Jack TreseLess than a week after his death on Oct. 20, 2004, longtime pastor of St. Columban Church in Birmingham, Michigan, the beloved Father John (Jack) Trese, was cremated. A rose was put onto his casket by parishioner Kevin Degen, and the button to start the process was pushed, with much grief, by Jack’s longtime friend, Sister Mary Fran Gilleran, IHM, president of the IHM congregation in Monroe, Michigan.  (see related 'Acts of Faith' story of the 200 roses involving Mary Fran)

Also in attendance was Pat Lynch, president and co-founder of the Clawson, Michigan site of…

In first encounter with any church, Michigan teen has back and legs healed

"I’ll never forget his eyes, wide with excitement as he straightened his back for the first time in many months, and tested both legs gingerly as he started walking."

Two years ago, in the middle of the EACH initiative (editor’s note: see www.EACHtoday.com for explanation), I attended an evangelism training session at a local congregation. It was a rather small crowd, and included 2 college kids that I had never met before. Turns out that one of them had not been to church before, and had been invited by his friend. The message that evening was about Jesus healing the blind…
